Due to a recent illness, everyone is wanting me to travel, to GO SOMEWHERE, Like that is the essence you will miss… I am loving feeling well enough to sit in the sunrise, clip some lavender for a vase, swim unhurried and alone in pond, eat summer produce, drive country roads with the corn fields opening up around each bend. Savoring the luxury of life. Enjoyed your piece and heartily agree.
I totally resonated with the beginning of this post about consumerism, thank you for sharing! I too have been trying to re-asses my purchases of late and often notice I treat shopping as a boredom thing or find it can give me that dopamine hit I may have needed at the time but did I really need that new outfit?! Loved your post x
True luxury to me means being able to enjoy nature, the sound of water, with no makeup on, loving the skin I’m in. Going on solo walks and adventures. That’s peaceful and slow living to me, being able to create and write whenever I want for an audience of 1: me. ♥️ Beautiful post!
I’m so happy I stumbled on this! Seeing the Ruthless Elimination of Hurry featured was enough to keep me reading 😇 I highly recommend listening to the authors joint podcast with Jefferson Bethke author of the book “To Hell with the Hustle.” The podcast is called “Fight Hustle, End Hurry” and it’d only 10 episodes long. Both hosts talk about the art of slowing down from a Biblical standpoint. It completely changed my faith and 100% encouraged my minimalist pov.
Wishing you a summer of “luxury” and peace, thank you for the great read ❤️
To me, when brought into the new light of this article, true richness feels like the moment when the sun is soaking up the touch of your skin and as white transparent curtains slowly rise and whimper down with the stroke of the wind the cherry cheeks of your stroking skin slowly settles into that soothing grin as seductive wind slowly carves into the touch of the skin.
THIS is beautiful. Totally agree, a don’t need more more more. We need to remember what’s already great. Thank you for outlining it like this. Obsessed with the dopamine menu. 🤍
It’s funny how we have been conditioned since childhood if we just get this ( add your “thing”) that it will bring us joy and happiness. That is until we get it and find our friend or neighbor has had our thing for awhile and it’s “old” to them.
We are conditioned for a constant “never settle for what we have” attitude. Never become complacent because there is always more waiting for us.
Happiness has to come from within…and often that means to do WITHOUT!
Really great reading this piece. Loved "This is a season of abundance—not just in the fields or the farmer’s markets, but in the everyday magic we often rush past."
This was beautiful, comforting & felt like a long exhale. Reading your dopamine menu gave me the same feeling of relaxation that listening to ASMR does- like a massage for my tired brain!
Love this article . I feel like I need a change this is definitely wealth just kicking back and reflecting enjoying good food and beauty around you 💕xx
